Every week I walk 7 minutes to a coffee shop to write. $5.50 for a drip I call writing rent.

Yesterday, I'm walking home and see our mailman. I didn't expect him to recognize me. I glanced his way. He makes puzzled eye contact. "Where do I know you from?" "I live next door." "Oh – you're the one with the adorable son. Matt, right?" That did more for me than the cup of joe. I keep 93 names in my notes app. Where I met them, one detail about each. Just felt like the right thing to do. A few months ago, I'm walking down the stairs at my gym and see a man I'd met a couple weeks before. "Hey Omar." He stopped. "No one remembers my name." I'd just never been on the other end of it before.
One call.

Tell me where it keeps going sideways. I'll tell you what I'd work on first, and if that's not me, I'll tell you that too.
